Vanderbilt Health, One Hundred Oaks

In 2007, Vanderbilt University Medical Center selected 100 Oaks Mall as a site to relocate a portion of the out-patient clinics from the main medical campus. Balfour Resource Group was engaged to meet the numerous challenges this unique project presented. The renovation of this retail space into a medical facility offered a dynamic opportunity for future adaption because of the spatial commonality between the clinics. While each clinic required specific equipment advancements to attain the highest level of patient care, BRG was tasked with maintaining flexibility and standardization to allow for fluctuation between clinics over time. BRG also assisted in ascertaining and implementing infrastructure requirements for data transmission between the main hospital and the new satellite location that many of the sophisticated pieces of equipment necessitated. In addition to these undertakings, BRG helped facilitate a multi-phase relocation and occupation schedule for equipment while reducing duplication of effort and costs. In 2009, the campus was completed with a host of services including:

Adolescent Medicine, Breast Center, Dermatology, Heart Center, Imaging, Internal Medicine, Interventional Pain, Medical Infusion, Multiple Sclerosis, Neurodiagnostics, Pediatric Allergy, Pediatric Rehabilitation, Pharmacy, Preoperative Evaluation Center, Rapid Response Lab, Surgical Weight Loss, University Pediatrics, Volunteer Services, Women’s Health & Women’s Imaging

100 Oaks: A History
In the 1940s and 50s, the current mall was a simple house with a split rail fence and 98 oak trees. When the Suschnick family moved in, two more oak trees were planted and they named their home “One Hundred Oaks”. This property retained its name when it became a mall in the late 1960s. The thriving mall began to deteriorate over time and by 1996 underwent a renovation that included a movie theater. However, in less than ten years the property was again a blemish to the area and Vanderbilt University Medical Center saw the opportunity to expand their medical services.

Fairview Hospital, a Cleveland Clinic Hospital

Fairview Hospital, a Level II Trauma Center and community-based satellite facility with 499 licensed beds, has engaged Balfour Resource Group to deliver Medical Equipment Planning services for their ICU and ED expansion project, currently scheduled to be completed in the spring of 2012. This two-story addition will include a 46-bed Emergency Department, complete with both adult and dedicated pediatric care centers, as well as a 36-bed ICU. Fairview is located on the western edge of Cleveland, OH and is a member of the Cleveland Clinic family of hospitals.

Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago

Children’s Hospital of Chicago recently awarded Balfour Resource Group with a contract to perform Transition Planning and Move Management services to relocate the suburban 270 bed facility to a 23 story, 1.25 million sq. foot replacement facility in downtown Chicago. The project is projected to continue through June of 2012.

Women & Infants’ Hospital, Providence, Rhode Island

The Women and Infants’ Hospital has outgrown their current location and are working to meet the needs of the community through a $76 million expansion. Balfour Resource Group is providing the leadership for the Transition Planning and Move Management of this facility from existing locations to the new facility. Precise move management is critical as it involves transitioning a tertiary-level neonatal intensive care unit, Ante-Partum OB patients, and administrative staff. The expansion will provide the Woman and Infants’ Hospital with 140,000 sq. feet of new space.
